What Is Stacking?

Stacking means applying multiple independent savings on a single purchase, in the right order, so they combine. A typical stack looks like: seasonal sale + promo code + cashback + credit card rewards. Each layer is small, but together they can turn a "good deal" into an exceptional one.

The Stacking Order That Works

  1. Start with the sale. Find the store's seasonal or clearance sale first — percentage-off sales usually apply before codes.
  2. Apply a promo code. Look for codes on the store's site, email list, or a coupon page. Some stores allow one code per order; a few allow stacking.
  3. Click through your cashback portal. This is the layer that is easiest to lose — make sure the portal confirms tracking before checkout.
  4. Pay with the right card. Use a card with rotating or category rewards if the store qualifies, and check for card-linked offers that stack on top.

Where Stacking Falls Apart

A Realistic Example

Say a $200 electronics order during a store sale: 20% off brings it to $160. A 10% promo code on the discounted total brings it to $144. Clicking through a portal offering 3% cashback returns about $4.30. Paying with a 2% rewards card returns about $2.90. Total savings: roughly $63 on a $200 order — over 31%, without any single discount being remarkable.

Tools to Make Stacking Easier

Check the current cashback rates on OfferLuck before buying, and keep a running list of your card's category bonuses for the quarter. Stacking is a habit — after a few purchases the order becomes automatic, and the savings add up quietly over the year.
